Regional Service Provision Assessment (SPA) Data Analysis Workshop
June 14-23, 2016 Pretoria, South Africa
The Demographic and Health Surveys (DHS) Program is seeking applications from universities, research institutes, the Ministry of Health, and non-governmental organizations in Kenya, Malawi, Namibia, Senegal, and Tanzania for a Service Provision Assessment (SPA)* Data Analysis Workshop, to be held in Pretoria, South Africa from June 14 - 23, 2016. The workshop will teach participants to analyze the SPA data in their respective countries to address research questions related to delivery and quality of health services. The language for the workshop is English. Participants will work in teams of three people throughout the workshop to answer pre-identified research question(s) through analysis of SPA data. At the end of the workshop, each team will give a PowerPoint presentation outlining their final research questions, preliminary literature review, conceptual framework, key variables, analytical methods, preliminary analysis results, and policy implications.

Workshop Costs
Lodging, meals, and local transportation in Pretoria for all participants will be covered by The DHS Program. The statistical software package Stata 14 will be provided for use during the workshop.
All applicants are expected to first seek their own funding sources to cover airfare and transportation to/from the airport in the home country. The DHS Program will provide a very limited number of travel fellowships. Please contact Arlene Iriho (Spaworkshop@dhsprogram.com) before April 19 for more information if you wish to be considered for a travel fellowship. If chosen for the workshop teams must secure funding for airfare and transportation to the airport in their home country by May 11.
Applicants who are accepted must submit a letter from their employer approving participation for the entirety of the workshop.
